Darlene designs whimsical greeting cards and post cards. These greeting cards are designed by hand using watercolor paint and watercolor pencils. The paper used is an acid free, cold pressed paper that gives the cards a nice presentation. Each card is uniquely different and no two cards are alike! The variety of cards cover a long range of topics, and all sentiments are whimsical and humorous.

Darlene has been interested in art for many years. At one time, she had a flourishing “air brush” cake decorating business. In 2000, she chose to further her artistic abilities and began taking art classes at Southern State Community College under the direction of James Werline.

[Just a Note Card]

Darlene said, “I was discouraged at first because everyone else was painting landscapes, flowers and portraits and I was painting whimsical.” Just as she felt out of place, she found her niche. Realizing others in the class really enjoyed her work, she decided to paint in that direction.

Darlene is now selling prints of her originals, which makes it more affordable. These cards can be personalized by contacting Darlene directly. Special ordered items require a one week notice. Darlene's future plans may consist of designing a line of cards for commercial production. These personally hand painted cards may possibly become a rare collectors item!

[Happy Birthday Card]

The Adams County Arts Council featured Darlene's work in the lobby of the Adams County Hospital. She has also done a presentation of her work for the Adams County Historical Society. Darlene's greeting cards, post cards, and note cards can be purchased in the Appalachian Gateway Center Gift Shop or by contacting her at home.
